Our Facilities

An exciting renovation nearly five years in the making has culminated in the transformation of the James Graham Brown Cancer Center, which celebrated the completion of its total renovation in the Spring of 2008. To continue offering patients the most effective and compassionate care, UofL Health Care and the UofL Foundation has invested nearly $29 million in the renovation of clinical facilities and updating of leading-edge technology. In addition, the James Graham Brown Cancer Center currently has approximately 50,000 square feet of dedicated research space throughout the Heath Sciences campus, which includes lab space within the Cancer Center itself, the Baxter Biomedical Buildings, a lab dedicated to Stem Cell research, as well as a Pharmacology lab.  In addition, the University of Louisville is adding to its already impressive cancer research capacity with the addition of a nearly 287,000 square foot, state-of-the-art Clinical and Translational Research Building (CTRB), which will provide the center with the capacity to meet program growth goals. The new facility is scheduled to open in 2009.

Since the Brown Cancer Center was established in 1980, its mission as part of an academic medical center has been to be on the leading edge of cancer research and train the next generation of oncologists.
