7 downtown projects honored
Agency announces Cornerstone Awards

The Louisville Downtown Management District has recognized projects recently completed in the center city, including the renovation of the Galt House and the Henry Clay project.
The acknowledgements, called Cornerstone Awards for new construction or renovation work valued at $1 million or more, came at the downtown agency's annual meeting at the Marriott Louisville Downtown last week.
The district uses funds from a tax assessment to promote, beautify and maintain a safety patrol team in the central business area.
The awards honored:
City Properties Group for the $1.75 million construction of BroadBrook Center, 200 E. Broadway. The project included construction of three free-standing retail buildings ranging in size from 6,400 square feet to 14,800 square feet and 115 parking spaces. Lead architect: Cityworks PLLC
U of L Health Care for the $6 million renovation of the James Graham Brown Cancer Center, 529 S. Jackson St. The 60,000-square-foot renovation includes offices, clinics and other medical facilities. Lead architect: Luckett & Farley
Al J. Schneider Co. for the $60 million renovation of the Galt House Hotel & Suites, 141 N. Fourth St. The 1,314-room hotel complex underwent an extensive modernization of lobbies, public spaces, guest rooms and restaurants. Lead architect: Hubbuch & Co.
City Properties Group for the $12 million adaptive use of The Henry Clay, 604 S. Third St. The eight-story, 164,000-square-foot project includes 33 apartments, 11 residential condominiums, 12,000 square feet of retail space, 12,000 square feet of office space, 35,000 square feet of event/meeting space and 51 lower-level parking spaces. William Van Aken for the $3.1 million renovation of Hotel Louisville Downtown (formerly the Holiday Inn-Downtown), 120 W. Broadway. Work on the 12-story, 287-room hotel included upgrades to the lobby, meeting rooms, pool area and hallways. The guest rooms, restaurant and lounge areas were also refurbished. Humana Inc. for the $13.6 million adaptive use of the Humana Unity Building, 516-526 W. Main St. The four-story, 75,000-square-foot project connects four historic buildings for offices, meeting, conference space and an employee dining area. Lead architect: Tucker Booker Donhoff + Partners Architects
Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's Healthcare for the $3.5 million expansion and renovation of Jewish Hospital Surgical Support, 200 Abraham Flexner Way. The project includes a 4,000-square-foot expansion and renovation of the pre-operative and post-operative recovery area. The combined 14,000-square-foot facility added 14 operating bays. Lead architect: Arrasmith Judd Rapp Chovan, Inc.
