Application for NMR time at BCC

Application for NMR time at BCC

Applications will be assessed by the NMR committee comprising R.J. Wittebort, A.N. Lane and S. Arumugam

Training courses:
Elementary-running simple spectra including 1D, COSY, NOESY, HSQC and TOCSY.
Test required, and must be passed before an account will be made available
Advanced: Changing probes, running triple resonance
Test required, and must be passed before an account will be made available
We will levy $500 for the training courses.
The NMR Center will provide expertise and advice.
Facilities are available for sample storage and limited manipulation.

Facilities:

18.8 T 4-channel Inova with VT
5 mm HCN pfg
3 mm CP-MAS solids probe

Capabilities: Standard 1H experiments, X-edited NOESY, TROSY, triple resonance (HCN only).

Main advantages of high field: dispersion and sensitivity (ca. 60% and 2X wrt 11.75 T, respectively).
Not very good for heteronuclear TOCSY
Best experiments: homonuclear NOESY, X-edited NOESY or TOCSY, TROSY. The last has no value for small molecules (best for M>20 kDa, with deuteration).

Preferred time use is in blocks of 24n hours where n is an integer.
Cancer Center Members receive a 20$ discount
Rates: Assisted

14.1 T 4-channel Inova with VT
5 mm HCN pfg
5 mm HCP pfg
5 mm XH pfg
8 mm HX pfg
3 mm HCN pfg flow probe
Dispersion and sensitivity are 25% and 1.3 X wrt 11.75 T, respectively.

Preferred time use is in blocks of 24n hours where n is an integer.

Cancer Center members receive a 20% dicount:
Unassisted charge $8 per hour (training essential)
Assisted charge= $15 per hour
Others $20 per h

State reasons for needing 14.1 T time
