About Brown Cancer Center

Brown Cancer Ctr.The James Graham Brown Cancer Center was established in 1977 by a group of local citizens who recognized the need for a better cancer treatment facility in the Kentucky/Indiana region. They raised funds and formed an organization which they named The Regional Cancer Center Corporation Board. The James Graham Brown Center opened in 1981. The Center gained momentum in 1987 when it was incorporated into the University of Louisville.

In 1999 Dr. Donald Miller was recruited as the Center Director. Under Dr. Miller's guidance, the Brown Cancer Center has been transformed in just eight years into a research and treatment institution which now sits among the nations finest. More than 80 clinical and research members have been added and our research support has grown nearly 200 fold.

On this Website, you will find information about the many facets of the Center including numerous innovations in radiation, surgical, medical, behavioral and dental oncology.

Worth special notation is the depth and volume of Brown Cancer Center research, which has been causing quite a stir in the community. Our facilities are expanding daily in response to the strides Brown is making in both treatment and research.

The Brown Cancer Center was only the dream of those few caring citizens who comprised The Regional Cancer Center Corporation Board. Who could have guessed in 1977 that their hopes would materialize on such a grand scale as they have today in the James Graham Brown Cancer Center?
