Radiation Oncology

As leaders in cancer care, the James Graham Brown Cancer Center radiation oncologists offer patients the world’s most sophisticated cancer-fighting technology and most proven radiation treatment techniques available. Our radiation oncologists are not only experts in radiation therapy, many specialize in a specific type of cancer. They work with physicists and technologists to plan the precise delivery of the radiation to minimize radiation to vital organs and maximize the radiation to the area affected by cancer.

The radiation oncology team was featured in the Fall 2012 edition of Discoveries Magazine. Click here to read more.

The American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and the American College of Radiology (ACR-ASTRO) has awarded full three-year accreditation to the Department of Radiation Oncology practicing at the James Graham Brown Cancer Center.  The Brown Cancer Center was the first in Louisville to receive this accreditation. Read more about the accreditation here.

The Brown Cancer Center’s recent multi-million dollar renovation included replacement of all radiation treatment and diagnostic equipment with state-of-the art machines, which make the Brown Cancer Center the most advanced radiation treatment center in the region.

In fact, the James Graham Brown Cancer Center is the first facility in Kentucky to offer the TrueBeam System by Varian, and the first center in Louisville to offer CyberKnife, the world’s first and only robotic radiosurgery system for the body.
